Gas piston power plants produce electricity from various types of gas fuel. Power plants are functioning:

on natural gas,
biogas,
accompanying gas,
mine gas.
gas of wastewater treatment plants,
landfill gas

Gas-piston power plants have a simple and reliable design, proven by decades of operation in a wide variety of climatic conditions. The electrical efficiency of gas-piston power plants is considered high, unlike, for example, turbines and microturbines, and when working on high-quality natural gas is ~ 39-50%.

This means that for the production of the same amount of electricity, compared to turbines, gas-piston power plants use one-third (!) less natural gas.

Gas piston power plants are presented in a wide range of unit electric power from 800 kW to 100 MW. This power range is basic. That is, in the small and medium range for consumers, it is possible to obtain almost any value of the electric power of an autonomous gas-piston power plant.

Almost all models and brands of gas-piston power plants in extended configuration are capable of operating in cogeneration mode, i.e. as thermal power plants. The temperature of the exhaust gases at the exit from the power machine of the gas-piston power plant is ~ 390 ± 10 ° C. This temperature makes it easy to obtain almost free thermal energy in the cogeneration mode.

The ratio of the production of electricity and thermal energy is 1:1, that is, 1 MW of thermal energy can be obtained for 1 MW of installed electric power.

The coefficient of production of saturated steam in a gas-piston power plant is 0.5-0.7. Steam can be used for industrial purposes.
