A culture that is undeservedly little-known to gardeners, and for good reason. It is distinguished by exceptional nutrition, surpassingeven peanuts, and high taste qualities. You can nibble raw nuts with pleasure after soaking them in water. It can be lightly fried and ground in a coffee grinder, and the resulting powder can be used for sweet pastries. You can make very nutritious nut milk from chufa ground in a coffee grinder. But the most surprising property of Chufa is its perspective as a home business. This niche in the seed market is still vacant. Not every seed store can find chufa seeds. And if they do meet, then they are of extremely low quality, small weeds from which nothing grows. Therefore, stores cannot compete with private amateur entrepreneurs. One hryvnia invested in chufa seeds yields up to 250 (!) hryvnias of income, since one nut grows up to 250 nuts on one bush.
This cannot be compared with the profitability of traditional potatoes, with its high labor intensity of planting and digging and fighting the Colorado potato beetle. Chufa, on the other hand, is extremely unpretentious in cultivation, it belongs to the sedge family. Not subject to any diseases and pests. The only thing that is needed is just watering. Even a schoolboy can grow it on a piece of land under a multi-storey building in the city and earn quite decent money. The market retail price of 1 kg of nuts for planting is about 1 thousand hryvnias! What other culture can be so profitable? By the way, 2 g of chufa seeds in the store cost 4 gr.! Accordingly, 1 kg is correct, 2000 g (retail)! Here, draw your own conclusions, whether this culture will start for you, or if it is the old-fashioned way of hunting withwith potatoes.
