For drying seeds, bunkers SZTS-1.5, BV-25, OBV-YUO, OBV-50, K-878, K-839, equipped with active ventilation units and equipped with electric air heaters, are used. Such bunkers are widely used in agriculture. Active drying of
sunflower seeds is possible in ventilated bunkers with the help of air heaters VPT-600, TAU-0.75, etc. At the same time, a canvas sleeve is connected to two or one bunker so that 1 ton of seeds requires about 500 m3/h of drying agent.
Ventilated hopper BV-25 is equipped with an electric heater for heating the air, a fan type Ts4-70 No. 6, two samplers, a sensor for monitoring the seed level in the hopper and three humidity regulators of the VDK type.
The bunker body consists of a vertical cylinder with a diameter of 3080 mm with a conical bottom. It is made of stamped perforated steel. In the center of the cylinder, a 12 0 750 mm intake distributor is installed, in which a piston is installed, which does not allow air to pass into the unloaded part of the hopper. The piston moves vertically with the help of a winch, a system of cables and blocks. The release of seeds from the hopper is regulated with the help of a ring installed in the lower part of the hopper, by changing the width of the annular gap. Air is supplied by a fan to the air distributor, blows the seeds radially and exits through the holes of the outer cylinder.

The electric heater is installed at the suction opening of the fan. It consists of two sections, each of which is connected to its humidity regulator.
Drying in a ventilated bunker proceeds slowly. The seeds are first of all dried in a layer through which heated air or a drying agent enters. Seeds are not dried in remote layers. Different quality of seeds in terms of humidity reaches 1.5...3.5%. Two options are used to eliminate this shortcoming when drying sunflower seeds in ventilated bunkers.
In the first option, after every 3.5...4.0 hours of drying (initial humidity of the seeds 9..:LZ%), the fan is stopped and the seeds are moved in the same hopper by releasing them within 10...15 minutes from the hopper and directing them to the same hopper. Then the drying process continues.
In the second option, two bunkers are used. In the first bunker, the seeds are dried for 2.5...3.5 hours, then they are moved to the second bunker, where drying is continued for 3...4 hours.
The intensity of active ventilation of sunflower seeds is primarily influenced by the speed of blowing them with air.
