Conical cap or variegated cap or Verpa conica (lat. Verpa conica) is found in nature in deciduous, mixed and floodplain forests, shrubs, forest strips, more often near aspens, willows, birches, in almost the same places as the cap, although it is a rarer species.
The cap is 2-4 cm in diameter, bell-conical, the surface is covered with shallow wrinkles, sometimes almost smooth, wrinkled, there is usually a dent on the top. The edge of the cap is free. Color yellow-brown, reddish-brown-brown, chocolate.
The leg is up to 10 cm high, sometimes up to 20 cm, cylindrical or flattened on the sides, hollow, brittle. The surface is covered with bran-like scales. The color is first white, then yellow.
The pulp is very tender, fragile.
