Herbicide Greenfort Pronyt (Proponyt) is a soil herbicide for the fight against annual cereal and dicotyledonous weeds.
Characteristics of the active substance
The active substance (propizachlor) belongs to the chloracetamide group. Preparations of this group spoil germinating seeds. Chloracetanilides inhibit enzymes with sulfhydryl groups, suppressing the oxidative process. Phosphorylation reduces the activity of nitroreductase, disrupting nitrogen exchange, protein synthesis, and the formation of polyribosomes. The phototoxic effect on weeds is expressed if the herbicide is present at the beginning of seed germination.
Mechanism of action
The herbicide is absorbed through the seedlings and root system of the weeds that germinate, while suppressing the synthesis of proteins and nucleic acids, causing rapid death of the weeds. The herbicide forms a protective screen in the upper layer of the soil, which allows you to control the subsequent waves of the appearance of weeds. With post-emergence use, the optimal effect against annual cereal weeds can be achieved in the germination phase - the first leaf; two-cotyledonous-cotyledon phase.
