Mechanism of action: systemic, reducing the biosynthesis of gibberellin, absorption of the drug occurs mainly through the leaves.

Physiological effect of Terpal®
The active ingredients of Terpal® affect the content of gibberellin and ethylene in the plant and, thus, regulate growth processes. The number of vascular-fibrous bundles increases in straw, the specific weight of mechanical tissues increases, and the content of fiber and lignin in straw increases. The stretching (elongation) of the cells of the subapical meristem is inhibited, they divide mainly in the transverse direction, leading to thickening of the straw and an increase in its diameter. The drug counteracts physiologically caused lying down, leading to a contraction of the internodes.(//tractor-service.com)

Therefore, the mechanical resistance of the stems to laying is due to:
decrease in cell length;
increase in cell density;
increase in cell wall thickness;
increase in the content of lignin in cell walls;
increasing the diameter of the straw and thickening its walls.

Terpal® promotes better development of the root system
As a result of the shortening of internodes, the need for assimilation products decreases, so their larger volumes are redistributed for use by the root system. Therefore, as a result, we have a more intensive development of the root system. The first measures to regulate growth can be carried out at an average daily temperature of 5-12°C. Under favorable weather conditions for growth, the effectiveness of the drug is the highest.

Practical recommendations for the use of growth regulators:

For wheat: Terpal® is used at a consumption rate of 1.0-2.5 l/ha, starting from the appearance of the 2nd node (EC 32) until the appearance of the tongue in the last leaf (EC 39). In the conditions of intensive technologies for growing winter wheat, the growth regulators Chlormequat-Chloride 750 and Terpal® are used in two ways:
the first - EC 25 - 31 (complete bushing - the appearance of the 1st node) with the consumption rate of Chlormequat-Chloride 750 - 1.5 l/ha;
the second - EC 32 - 39 (phase of two nodes before the appearance of a flag leaf) with a Terpal® rate of consumption - 1.0 l/ha.

For barley: Terpal® is used at a consumption rate of 1.0 l/ha at the appearance of a flag leaf - opening of the last leaf axil (ЕС 37–ЕС 49).

For malting barley: With intensive technologies of growing malting barley, two methods of applying growth regulator Terpal® are used:
the first - at the stage of the appearance of the 1st - 2nd internode (EC 31 - 32) with the aim of reducing the height of the plant and increasing the thickness of the stem wall (stem diameter). Consumption rate – 1.0 l/ha;
the second one is the appearance of a flag leaf (EC 37, before the appearance of ostyuks). The goal is to strengthen and shorten the part of the stem between the flag leaf and the base of the ear to improve the flow of nutrients to the ear (grain filling) and stop it from breaking off. Consumption rate - 0.5 - 0.9 l/ha.

It is not recommended to use Terpal® :
in conditions of lack of moisture;
on poorly developed crops;
if frost is expected before or after application;
under conditions of temperature above 24°С;
on areas after stubble predecessors, where no more than N60 nitrogen will be applied;
when plants are in a state of stress, growth slows down;
up to 8-10 days after the treatment of grain crops with herbicide;
after the appearance of stilts on barley crops (after EC 37).

Mixing guidelines:
The drug can be mixed with fungicides and insecticides, for example: Abacus®, Rex® Duo, Flexity, Fastak® and Bi-58® New. In some (other) cases, it is necessary to conduct a compatibility test. Do not mix with herbicides.
