Chickpea (Cicer arietinum L) - a bright transgenic variety of foodchickpea HOPE. It was developed by the well-known Canadian SERTIS Holding on the order of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture IITA Nigeria, as well as the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas of Syria for the countries of North and South Africa and Asia. One-year culture, fairly cold-resistant, the minimum temperature for seed germination is 2 C* - 3 C*. The root system is rod-shaped with a well-developed main root that penetrates the soil to a depth of up to 180 cm. About 50% of the root system develops at a depth of up to 20 cm. Nodules with nitrogen-fixing bacteria are formed on the roots. The stem is erect, branched, compressed, spreading, branching begins near the base of the stem, the height of the chickpea plant is 120 cm. The leaf is complex, odd-pinnate, consists of 20 leaflets, the color of the leaves is green with a violet tint, the leaves, stem and lobes of the bean are covered with fine hairs, which play a protective role for the plants. The flower is two-flowered, five-flowered, large, the color of the corolla is white. The fruit is bean-rhombic in shape, up to 8 cm long with a parchment layer, does not crack when ripening. The number of seeds in a bean is 5 pieces. Chickpea grain is characterized by the presence of an elongated spout, the surface of chickpeas is smooth, reminiscent of an owl's head, and the color of the grain shell is bright white. Chickpea is a self-pollinating plant. It was bred in Canada in 2015, underwent variety tests for drought resistance in Canada, Egypt, Tunisia, India, Iran, where the average tem. the air was + 60 C, in these conditions he showed excellent results in terms of yield in 2016. He also passed variety tests for drought resistance in Russia in the Krasnodar region, in the Khabarovsk region, in Turkmenistan.
A distinctive feature of the transgenic chickpea variety, compared to other common chickpea varieties:

2) It is characterized by resistance to abiotic stresses - it tolerates spring frost well in the stage of full plant development up to -22 C*, and in the seedling phase it withstands a temperature drop of -18 C, which makes it possible to sow chickpeas at the earliest possible time.
3) It has resistance to increased moisture content in the soil.
4) It has stable immunity to all chickpea diseases affecting common chickpea varieties, such as (aschitosis, chickpea wilt, fusarium wilt, downy mildew, bacteriosis, phomosis, chickpea mosaic virus, gray mold, yellow bean mosaic and cucumber mosaic virus, etc.) and is not affected by these diseases.
5) It is resistant to all harmful insects affecting common varieties of chickpeas (including all types of aphids, mining flies, all types of wild, winter, cabbage, garden, pea, sawfly moths, wireworms, etc.) due to the insertion of the DNA of the chickpea tetra gene isolated from the bitter wormwood plant into the cell structure.
6) Resistant to soil salinization.
7) Chickpea grains ripen evenly on the entirebean plant they do not crack and fall off, but are firmly held in the leaves of the bean pod until they are fully ripened, thanks to this, chickpeas do not need desiccation, chickpeas are harvested directly by harvesters.
8) Resistance to lodging due to a strong, powerful stem.Chickpea seeds are large chickpea caliber + 10. Protein content in chickpea is 65%.

The norm for sowing chickpeas of the HOPE variety per hectare is 120 kg with precision seed drills or grain drills C 3 - 3.6, SKON - 4.2, Valga - 2000, chickpea seeds are sown to a depth of 6 cm - 7 cm. Chickpeas can be sown both by the usual row method at 15 cm and by the strip method of 45 cm + 15 cm or by the wide row method of 45 or 60 cm.
Sowing of Canadian HOPE chickpeas begins on March 1 and continues until May 20.

Herbicides: Harness 3 liters per 1 ha before germination or Pivot - 0.75 liters per 1 ha before germination, Trophys before germination, Furore ultra 0.5 liters per 1 ha in any plant phase. Application of insurance herbicides against cereal weeds (Select, Fuzylad Super, Aramo, etc.) before the chickpea plants begin to flower.
Fertilizers: nitroammophoska 140 kg - 150 kg is applied before sowing the crop, during sowing, or after sowing.
The vegetation period of HOPE chickpeas from sowing to harvesting is 90 days (early).
Harvesting: Chickpeas are harvested with Yenisei, Don, Niva, Zhondyr, Keys combine harvesters.
