Perennial low-bush, winter-type grass, height from 40 to 80 cm.
Stems are erect, well leafed. Forms many short aerial shoots.
Inflorescence is a spike 12-15 cm long or more. Spikelets of freedom. The seed shaft in perennial fenugreek is flat, slightly widening upwards.
The root system penetrates the soil shallowly, due to which it cannot withstand drought and frost, especially in snowless winters; not resistant to flooding, as well as close standing of ground water.
It grows well on fertile and non-acidic loamy permeable soils, worse - on light dry soils and peatlands. Responds well to nitrogen fertilizer and irrigation.

Cultivation
