FARREL soft winter wheat variety developed on the basis of nanotechnology by transforming DNA cells of wheat, Canadian Holding SERTIS and by the American chemical concern UNION CARBIDE. This wheat variety was developed in Canada in 2015. The FARREL variety was tested for frost resistance in 2016. in the harsh, frosty climate of Canada, in the northern agricultural provinces of Regina, Saskatoon, Whitehorse, Edmonton, Ottawa, Calgary, as well as in North America in the states of North Carolina, North Dakota, Iowa, Utah, Missouri, Alaska, it showed excellent results in terms of productivity, where the average air temperature since January 2016 was - 45 C* in combination with strong wind gusts, as well as in Northern Norway, in Russia in the Khabarovsk Krai, Krasnodar Krai, Irkutsk, Karatovsk, Magadan, Rostov, Kursk, Murmansk regions. Passed a variety test for drought resistance in the countries of the EEC, Ethiopia, Zambia, South Africa, Brazil, Kazakhstan, Mozambique, where the average tem. air was + 60 C*.

A distinctive feature of the transgenic wheat variety from other ordinary wheat varieties:
1) This variety of Canadian transgenic wheat can be sown for 10 years in a row, as it does not lose its qualities.
2) It is characterized by good frost resistance up to - 45 C* in dry winter, without snow cover in combination with strong wind due to isolated genes from the oceanic brown algae fucus bujrychatii, which can withstand temperatures of - 60 C*, growing at the bottom of the Arctic Ocean, as well as from the plant Colobanthus antarctic thicket.
3) Resistant to abiotic stresses - well tolerates spring temperature changes, frosts in the stage of full development of the plant - 35C*.
4) It is characterized by good drought resistance up to + 60 C* due to genes introduced into the DNA structure of wheat T. persivalii Hubbard, T. turgidum L. and a set of genes transformed from Gladonia alpinum, which can withstand temperatures of + 101 C*, and introduced by transformation into wheat DNA cells.
5) It is characterized by resistance to soil salinization due to the transformed cells of the solerosa plant (salicomia europea), the concentration of salts in groundwater up to 230 g/l.
6) It has stable immunity to all fungal diseases of wheat, as well as to viruses affecting common varieties of wheat such as (root rot, various types and forms of wheat bacteriosis, powdery mildew, snow mold, dwarf rust, reticulated and bordered spotting, dusty and false dusty (black head and stone head, stem melanosis, ergot, septoriosis, fusarium head blight, etc.) and is not affected by all these diseases.
7) This type of wheat is resistant to lodging and shedding, as well as ear failure, due to the strong, powerful stem of wheat.
8) Wheat is harvested directly by harvestersgrain ripens evenly on the ear and does not require desiccation.
9) High productivity due to the length of the ear of 26 cm, the coefficient of bushiness of transgenic wheat of 25 stems, as well as the number of grains of 310 pieces and fourteen rows of ears, this is the reason for its high productivity.
This variety of transgenic wheat was sown in Ukraine in 2016 and showed excellent yield results.
