FreeStyle Optium β-Ketone test strips - are used with the Optium Xceed glucometer to determine the level of glucose (sugar) in whole blood.
The test strip for determination of blood glucose is packed individually in an easy-to-open packaging film made of foil, which protects against damage caused by exposure to air, moisture and dirt. An additional electrode in the test strip allows you to exclude the start of the measurement process if not enough blood is applied. It is possible to increase the amount of the blood sample within 5 seconds, if there was not enough blood at first.
The semi-transparent coating on the blood collection chamber allows the user to see blood as the chamber fills and makes it easy to determine whether the sample is sufficient or needs to be added. The ability to apply a blood sample to the end of the test strip or from above to a specially designated area allows you to fill the chamber for blood sampling from any surface from which blood sampling is performed.
Measuring the level of ketones in the blood during hyperglycemia will allow measures to be taken before ketoacidosis begins to progress.
