The variety was bred in 1966 by crossing the cherry "Samsonovka" and "Kievskaya-19". Authors: V.A. Turovtsev and N.I. Turovtseva. Widespread in Ukraine. Cherry "Shalunya" is a fast-growing, vigorous tree. It has a wide, rounded crown raised above the ground. The fruit is a large, round, burgundy, almost blackberry weighing 5-6 g. Attached to a peduncle 4 mm long. The pulp is dark red, juicy. The taste of the berries is sweet and sour. The bone is small, free, easily separates from the pulp. Fertilization on annual growths and bouquet branches. Fruits ripen in the second half of June. It bears fruit 4 years after planting. The variety is valued for its high resistance to diseases and fungi. In harsh winters, wood and flower buds are almost not damaged.
