Originator - Breeding and Genetic Institute - National Center of Seed Science and Varietal Research of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences.
Listed in the Register of Plant Varieties of Ukraine since 2010. Recommended growing area: Steppe, Forest Steppe.
Varietal distinguishing features:
The variety is hordeiforme. The ear is spiny, not drooping, intensely red, dense, cylindrical. Stems are long (11-12 cm), jagged, elastic, light brown in color. The grain is semi-elongated, white. Spike scale elongated. The spike of the spikelet is medium, the shoulder is slightly raised.
Biological signs:
The variety was created for cultivation using intensive technology, universal use on high and medium agrophones. Mid-early ripens in 270-273 days (ripens 1-2 days earlier than the standard Red Sail variety). Medium-sized (105-110 cm), good lodging resistance. Frost and winter resistance is average (5-7 points), at the level of the Pearl of Odesa variety. Drought resistance is average (5-7 points). Highly resistant to shedding and moderately resistant to grain germination in the ear. It is characterized by complex resistance to common diseases, in particular septoriosis and various types of soot (8-9 points), brown, steppe rust and powdery mildew (7-8 points).
Economic signs:
The average yield over the years of testing in the Steppe zone is 59.6 t/ha, and in the Forest-Steppe zone 65.2 t/ha. The guaranteed difference is 6.0 c/h. It meets all the requirements of the standard for the grain of the highest grades of durum wheat. It has medium-sized grain (40.4-45.0 g) with a density of 785-827 g/l. Gluten content - 28.7-34.0, protein 13.6-14.6%. The overall rating of pasta products is 5.0-5.5 points. The overall rating of groats is 9.0 points. Among other types of durum wheat, it is distinguished by a set of high technological indicators for production.
Agrotechnical requirements:
Realization of high productivity and grain quality is achieved when growing on high agro backgrounds using intensive technology. Sowing must be carried out in a short period (4-5 days) at the beginning of the optimal period for soft winter wheat in each specific region. The optimal seed sowing rate is 5 million similar grains per hectare. The depth of seed wrapping is 4-6 cm. The sowing rate is 4.5 million similar grains per hectare.
