When lambs are weaned early, they are fed with hay and briquetted fodder, gaining a live weight of 30-40 kg by the age of 3-4 months. The breed is fast growing. Up to 60% of gilts are mated at 7-10 months of age. The average fertility is 131 lambs per 100 ewes.(//tractor-service.com)
Sheep's milk is used forproduction of cheese “Roquefort” and other delicate cheeses (pecorino, brie, camembert, feta, toleggio). Due to the characteristics of the breed, the milk does not have a specific smell, which favorably affects the taste of the products.
VKF "Pilgrim" has been breeding Lakon sheep since 2008, it is the first and only certified breed breeding farm in Ukraine.
