Decorative features of tree hazel
The family of tree hazel is eastern countries, but it is actively grown in the west of Russia and Ukraine. The popularity of the culture is due to its high yield and decorative features. In favorable conditions, the tree can grow up to 18–20 meters. But the moderate climate and soil quality do not allow the plant to achieve maximum growth rates. In Russia and Ukraine, it is possible to meet hazel with a height of no more than 10 meters.
Bear nut has a massive trunk of light brown color. The bark on the branches may have white spots. Young shoots are always lowered and gray. Foliage is bright, rounded or heart-shaped. The tree is especially beautiful in autumn. At this time, the foliage turns yellow, orange and red. By winter, it falls off, and dark brown earrings remain hanging on the tree. The nut itself is bisexual: men's earrings are bigger than women's.
Advantages of growing a bear nut
Tree hazel is called a bear nut because of its resistance to bad weather conditions. Hazel is not afraid of frost and tolerates summer heat well. Tree hazel is a long-lived tree. A tree can live up to 200 years in its family. In addition to climatic endurance, the cultivation of this plant has advantages:
• like hazelnuts and other walnut relatives, the fruits of tree hazel are a useful nutritional product;
• the tree bears fruit annually;
• has excellent decorative features.
The fruits of tree hazel are very tasty both fresh and cooked, but before that you need to get rid of the thick shell. In terms of taste, bear nut fruits are not inferior to wild hazelnuts.
The gentle, pleasant smell of walnut kernels, the soft structure of the fruit are appreciated by culinary experts from different countries. Small nuts are added to liver pastes, vegetable and meat salads, first courses, etc.
Not only hazelnuts are valuable, but also their wood. Using it for construction purposes has many advantages. Bear nut trunks are hard and durable. Buildings made of such a log can stand for more than a century. Because of this, the tree hazel has been listed in the Red Book for more than half a century, and in nature it can be found only on the slopes of mountains, where it is difficult to reach.

Hazelnuts have a pleasant taste.
Peculiarities of growing tree hazel
Bear nut is best plantedseedlings. The most suitable time is early autumn. Hazel will grow only in fertile soil. Before planting, prepare a hole (up to 50 cm deep) and fertilize the soil, mixing it in:
• 10 kg of humus;
• 500 g of mineral fertilizer;
• 50 g of potassium salt.(//tractor-service.com)
Before planting, the purchased seedlings are pruned, it is also important to prepare the root system of the tree for the new conditions by soaking them in a solution of manure and clay. If you plan to plant several plants, place them at a distance of 3–5 meters from each other. After burying, the nut should be well covered with water.
Caring for tree hazel is not complicated. The main thing is to systematically loosen the soil so that the roots of the tree receive a sufficient amount of air. In dry weather, watering is recommended. Ego is produced no more than once a month. In the rainy season, watering should be avoided. The tree does not require a large amount of moisture and obtains it from the soil itself. TEL-096xxxxxx FOR ORDERING SEEDLINGS.
Why is it worth growing tree-like hazel?
Bear nut, which tastes like hazelnut, is good for health. Grow your own tree for fruit - much more economical than buying them in a store, all nuts are expensive. Already in 4-5 hours of its life, a tree-like hazel can produce up to 10 kg of fruits. With mass production, 5 tons of delicious, nutritious nuts can be obtained from 1 hectare.
An additional advantage of the tree walnut is its long-term storage, which does not require preliminary processing. In a dry, dark place, the fruits are stored for years without losing their beneficial properties.
The chemical composition of the product contains a large amount of trace elements (potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, etc.), a high percentage of proteins, which allows the product to be used in dietary and medical nutrition.
Tree walnut is perfect as a graft for hazelnuts. But do not expect quick results. When growing in open ground, it is difficult for grafting materials to adhere to each other, so it is better to do grafting in greenhouses.
The technology of growing hazelnuts on hazelnuts - Gardener
In Ukraine, hazelnut grows mainly in home gardens. In recent years, ego's popularity is growing significantly. As a result, private farming plantations of this culture appear.
But farmers are not able to satisfy the demand of the domestic market for hazelnuts, as well as the needs of the food and pharmaceutical industry. Ukrainians are forced to import hazelnuts from abroad, spending huge amounts of money.
The time has come to establish industrial hazelnut plantations of high-yielding domestic and foreign varieties, introduce new technologies for its production, grow forms on woody rootstock that will increase the productivity and longevity of planted trees and spread the culture to regions with harsher climatic conditions.
In nature, hazelnut grows as a tree or shrub. A rootstock for bush hazelnut, or common hazel (Corylus avellana L.), can be tree hazel, or bear nut (Corylus colurna L.). TEL-096xxxxxx FOR ORDERING SEEDLINGS.
Plants of this species are widespread throughout Eastern Europe.
This is the only representative of the hazel genus, whose life form is a tree. The height of an adult tree is 20 m (in our conditions it grows no higher than 8 m), the life span is 200 years. A plant with a thick, wide-pyramidal beautiful crown, slender. The trunk is covered with light, deeply fissured bark, separated by plates. The leaves are simple, large, broadly ovate with a fairly long petiole - 3-5 cm. The tree-like hazel is winter-hardy and quite drought-resistant, successfully resists pathogens and pests. It withstands winter temperatures down to minus 35-40 ºС, in autumn it retains its foliage for a long time. Bear nut is decorative not only in summer, but also in winter. At this time, he is decorated with many dull brown earrings. The light color of the young branches, covered with a velvety white cork bark, also gives the plant a decorative look. With the first rays of the spring sun, the earrings wake up, crack and increase in length due to the growth of the stem. At this time, a complex and extremely responsible process of pollen maturation takes place in them. The wind blows on the tree, and yellow clouds of ripe pollen envelop it. Male flowers pollinate, while female flowers are completely inconspicuous. Small red stigmas are barely pushed out from under the soft kidney scales. The color of the stigmas is determined by the presence of anthocyanin pigment in them. The red color promotes the capture of heat rays and, thanks to this, the successful course of the fertilization process. Warmth is very important for bear nut flowers that bloom in early spring. But the earrings dusted off and began to fall. This means that the time has come for leaf buds to bloom. And then the tree is covered with bright green foliage. The root system of tree hazel is deep, rod-shaped, firmly holding the plant in the substrate, which makes it possible to use it in forest protection plantations. Bear nut wood is very highly valued in furniture production, it is used in the decoration of salons, cabins, and ceremonial halls. It is thin-layered, dense, strong with a beautiful pink shade. Buildings erected from bear nut have been preserved for centuries. The wood, which is easily processed and polished, has long been used by the population of Transcaucasia and Turkey for the manufacture of carpentry and turning products. Because of its beautiful and durable wood, the plant was cut down predatorily even in pre-revolutionary times and survived only in hard-to-reach mountain gorges.
The ability to grow at altitudes of 1500-1800 m above sea level. m. saved him from final extermination. It is listed in the Red Book. Nuts ripening in September - October are also valued. They are larger than ordinary hazelnuts, with a thick shell, which is why this type of hazelnut is called a bear nut, but with a very tasty, oily kernel. A slender tree with brightly carved leaves, resembling a plane tree from afar, will really decorate any landscape. But here, beauty also gives quite a material benefit - walnuts. Inflorescence containing up to 20 nuts (more often 6-8 pieces). Green hedgehogs are scattered all over the crown and cheerfully look down from a height: try and get it! Do not rush. At the beginning of September, they fall out of the wrappers in unison, just be sure to pick up the long-awaited delicacy. In taste and appearance, the nuts are very similar to hazelnuts, but not round, but cylindrical. With a pointed conical top and rather densely pubescent, as if powdered, thick skin, they rather resemble Rocket or Dolinsky. It would be wasteful to use such a tree only for decorative purposes - in our question there are not so many walnuts, even less of their varieties. A bear nut planted according to a scheme of 6x6 m or 7x5 m will give the first harvest in 4-5 hours, at a productive age it is possible to collect from 2 to 5 tons per hectare, and the production is eco-logical.

Fruits ripen, as a rule, in the first half of September.
The advantages of this variety include tolerance to low temperatures and relatively high disease resistance.
It is a good pollinator for most varieties.
It is recommended for growing on industrial plantations. Realization-March, April, May, October
