The grates are made of food-grade vindurin (transparent plastic). The size of the grid is designed for use in a 10-th / 12-th frame bodyhive, and is intended to limit the place where the queen lays eggs and divide the bee nest into brood and feed parts, which allows to simplify the selection of only honeycombs. Also, many beekeepers adapt the Hahnemann lattice to the hive's lattices, thereby preventing the exit of the queen with a swarm, and therefore losses during the absence of the beekeeper in the apiary.
