The Danish Durok breed originated in the USA and Canada, from where it was imported in 1977-1979. for use as a producer boar in the interbreeding program. Since then, the breed has been significantly improved, primarily in relation to the content of lean meat and average daily weight gain. Currently, it has the largest population of the pure Duroc line in Europe.
The Durok boar has the highest daily weight gain: up to 30 kg - 380 g, from 30 kg and above - 1,000 g, and, in addition, its feed consumption is insignificant (2.31), and the percentage of lean meat is up to 60%, which is a basic prerequisite for economically sound pork production.
Currently, DanBred has the largest population of pure Duroc line in Europe.
Most Danish pigs for slaughter are produced using Duroks, on the father's line, and LY / YL hybrids on the maternal line, in order to optimize the production of pig carcasses as much as possible.
