Pharmacological action: interacts with protein, forms albumins. It has stronger disinfecting properties than bismuth salicylate and a weaker astringent effect than bismuth subnitrate. Acts as an antidiarrheal agent. In combination with herbal astringents, the antidiarrheal effect increases. When applied externally, it acts as a disinfectant, astringent and drying agent, and also accelerates wound regeneration and healing. Low toxicity, does not irritate wounds and mucous membranes.
