MBS and TMKSH- (R). — the general name of the group of materials obtained by vulcanization of rubber. Technical R. is a product of vulcanization of technical plate, containing from 5-6 to 15-20 different ingredients that facilitate the processing of rubber and give the product the necessary operational properties. The most important ingredients are vulcanizing agents (most often sulfur), vulcanization accelerators and activators, fillers, plasticizers, stabilizers, dyes, etc. As fillers, various highly dispersed substances are mainly used, for example, carbon black (carbon black), kaolin, talc, silicon dioxide, as well as fabrics, cords based on synthetic or metallic fibers. A feature of R. is their high elasticity in a wide temperature range. The exception is ebonite (so-called solid rubber) — products that are obtained during the vulcanization of rubber with large amounts of sulfur (up to 50%).
R. has a number of valuable properties that determine their wide use in aircraft construction: shock-absorbing and sealing ability, wear resistance, fatigue endurance, electrical insulation properties, gas and water impermeability, some R., in addition, resistance to liquid fuels,
oils, various aggressive media (acids, alkalis, etc.) . Ebonite is characterized by high chemical resistance and durability when used in extreme environmental conditions (for example, under the influence of a tropical climate), high mechanical strength, electrical insulation properties.
