2. Characteristics of the variety
The climatic conditions of Ukraine are optimal for successful, industrialgrowing of plums, however, its profitable production is possible only if appropriate varieties are used. Early or late ripening period in order to sell the harvest at the most profitable prices, when they are still / already high on the market. All these qualities are available in one of the most popular plum varieties in Europe - Topend Plus®. It is included in the TOP 10 varieties of plums in Germany. Only those plum varieties with an average fruit weight of 50 grams or more belong to the TOP series. Topend Plus® variety has 65 grams! Therefore, at the moment, this variety has the largest fruit size and weight in the world! But this is not the only advantage of this variety. The tree is medium-sized, the branches are directed sharply upwards. Plantation can be planned with dense planting (5x2). The variety begins to bear fruit early and the yield potential is extremely high.
3. Resistance
The most valuable characteristic of the variety is its resistance. The variety is resistant to Plum pox virus, rust and tolerant to moniliosis.
4. Fruit.
Topend Plus® is self-priming. The fruits are large, covered with a wax coating. The taste of plums is excellent, with a high sugar content and a good ratio of fruit acids. (Brix 20%, total acid 9.5%). The form of plums is traditional. The flesh of the fruit is light yellow, juicy. The bone easily separates from the pulp. The average weight of one fruit is 65 grams. The ripening period is the end of September.
5. Storage and use
The harvest is well stored for 4-6 weeks. They are used both for fresh consumption and for the production ofjam and palenki, as well as drying.
