Mechanism of action
The active substance of Gin - aluminum phosphide - during contact with atmospheric air decomposes into phosphoric hydrogen (PH3), carbon dioxide (СО2) with the release of ammonia (NH3). The speed of the reaction depends on the presence of moisture in the air and its temperature. At a humidity of 60% and a temperature of +20 °C, 50% of the gas is released within 24 hours. The maximum effect of fumigation is achieved after 60-72 hours. Phosphine gas disrupts metabolic processes and blocks the supply of oxygen to the body, causing paralysis of the nervous system and the complete death of pests.
Properties
Gin provides a rapid effect on pests, which depends on the concentration of phosphine gas in the air. Complete death occurs when the concentration of gas is reached during exposure in the open form of harmfulness - at least 7 g/h/m³ and 25 g/h/m³ - in the hidden form.
General recommendations
The drug can be distributed both manually and with the help of tablet dispensers. Tablets are inserted into the grain stored in bulk with a special probe. Small batches of grain and other products with a side height of up to 2.5 m are covered with a film, which is fixed on a frame 50 cm high, so that there is free access of air between the
grain and the film. Do not use together with other drugs and immediately after treating the premises with means using a large amount of liquid. Direct contact of the drug Gin with a large amount of water causes spontaneous combustion. Access to children and personnel who have not been instructed is prohibited. Do not open the flasks, except for direct use. Do not store in damaged containers. Fumigation of objects at a distance of less than 200 m from residential and 100 m from industrial premises is prohibited; at air temperatures (outside and inside the room) below +10 °C and above +35 °C and air movement speed above 7 m/s. Fumigation is allowed only to specially trained and equipped with personal protective equipment crews consisting of at least 3 workers. It is strictly forbidden to carry out fumigation alone. After the exposure, the room is degassed using active ventilation, and in the absence of ventilation, passive ventilation. Compliance with regulations during fumigation is mandatory.
