MECHANISM OF ACTION
A drug of contact action. The active substance of the drug is a strong oxidizer, when it enters the plant it leads to the destruction of cell membranes, disruption of photosynthesis processes and removal of moisture from cells. It dries both cultivated plants and weeds present on the area to be treated.

A mandatory condition for the effect of the drug is the processing of green plants, with the presence of living culture cells. The most effective absorption of the active substance is achieved with timely processing. In the process of absorption of the drug by plant leaves, the diquat molecule is reduced, as a result of which a stable radical is formed, which can be oxidized a second time by molecular oxygen. As a result of the addition of an electron, oxygen turns into highly reactive superoxide anion (O2-) and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), oxidizing unsaturated fatty acids. The malondialdehyde formed at the same time inactivates the electron transport system, which causes rapid destruction of the tonoplast, destruction of cellular contents (rupture of mitochondria, destruction of thylakoid membranes in chloroplasts) and drying of the plant as a whole.

Crops are treated with the drug during the period of physiological ripenesssunflower seeds (seed moisture 40-36%). Processing at an earlier time can lead to a decrease in productivity. The rate of consumption of the drug depends on the density of the plant stand, weeding of the sowing, weather conditions during processing and the period beforeharvest. It is better to carry out the treatment in the evening or during the day in cloudy weather, because hot sunny weather during the treatment reduces the effectiveness of desiccation. After processing, the conditions that accelerate the removal of moisture from destroyed plant cells are favorable - wind, sunny weather without precipitation. The presence of dust on the surface of plants also negatively affects the effectiveness of the drug. Therefore, it is not recommended to use the drug under such conditions.
