Belongs to the cypress family from the genus of gymnosperms. This type of western thuja grows quickly and has a narrow but very dense columnar crown. Its scaly, thick, shiny needles (leaves) are painted in a bright green color and have the property of slightly changing in winter, where it acquires a brown color that disappears by spring. In cold growth zones, the brown color of the needles becomes more intense. It is located on short, rounded twigs that diverge from the trunk densely and horizontally. The bark of the trunk is rough, red-brown in color. Thuja Kolumna gives fruits in the form of small cones, which also acquire a brown color in autumn.
