Granular ammonium sulfate mineral fertilizer contains 21% nitrogen and 24% sulfur. Granular ammonium sulfate also contains biologically digestible iron compounds.
Ammonium sulfate is obtained by neutralizing sulfuric acid with synthetic ammonia. And accordingly, granular ammonium sulfate is an excellent source of sulfur nutrition, since a significant part of sulfur in plants is in the form of sulfuric acid salts. Ammonium, which contains granular ammonium sulfate, is readily available to plants, has little mobility and is not washed out of the soil, which provides the possibility of its wide use as a basic
fertilizer and during spring top dressing. Granular ammonium sulfate is primarily recommended for the following crops:
(//tractor-service.com)
1. sulfur-demanding - rapeseed, cabbage and other cruciferous crops, buckwheat, winter and spring wheat;
2. which prefer the ammonium form of nitrogen to the nitrate form - potatoes, sugar beets, fodder crops;
3. which grow better with a slightly acidic soil solution - potatoes, flax, tea,
sunflower, carrots, tomatoes, sorrel, parsley, turnips, radishes, pumpkins, zucchini, radishes, gooseberries, raspberries.
Granular ammonium sulfate is a highly effective nitrogen fertilizer, the use of which ensures high agronomic and economic efficiency of growing the main agricultural crops. When using granular ammonium sulfate, the lack of nitrogen and sulfur in plant nutrition is simultaneously eliminated, which significantly improves the quality of the produced products. It should be noted that sulfur occupies one of the leading places among biogenic elements after nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium. The positive effect of sulfur on the harvest often goes unnoticed, since it affects not the quantity, but the quality of the products.
It is best to apply granular ammonium sulfate in the spring in the main application under pre-sowing cultivation, which makes it possible to evenly distribute the fertilizer over the field. Fertilizing crops with ammonium sulfate is also effective. In addition, ammonium sulfate can be added to a solution of liquid nitrogen fertilizers.
Ammonia losses with surface application of ammonium sulfate are no more than 1-3%, while with urea and ammonium nitrate 25-30% of the applied amount of nitrogen. It is also important that nitrogen in ammonium sulfate is in the most accessible form for plants and participates in the formation of the crop throughout the growing season.
During long-term storage, ammonium sulfate granulated does not clump and retains its fluidity, as it has weak hygroscopicity.
