Indolylbutyric acid is the active substance of such preparations as Klonex, Kornevin, Rizopon, etc. It is used as the main hormone for stimulating root formation in woody and herbaceous plants.
It is allowed to use in liquid, gel and powder form.
Addition of vitamins B1, B3, B6, B12 as synergistic components is recommended.
Idolylbutyric acid powder together with a filler (it can be talc or coal (wood, activated)) is dusted with cuttings. Norms and concentrations of IMK depend on the plants, but there are some recommendations or patents (for example, the known stimulator of root formation "Root", containing indolylbutyric acid 04-08 wt.% and
wood charcoal 99.2-99.6 wt.% (patent No. RU 2271098).

A gelling agent is usually used to prepare a viscous substance. There is also a known patent using guar gum, vitamins, and copper sulphate (root formation stimulator "Fitoklon", containing indolylbutyric acid 08-12 wt.% and other components (patent No. RU 2637373).
For use in liquid form, IMC is dissolved in alcohol. The minimum amount of alcohol is 10 ml for dissolving 1 g of IMC 98% (mother liquor). But the concentration of IMC and alcohol in the working solution strongly depends on the period of soaking the cuttings. More details can be found in the book "Fundamentals of Chemical Regulation of Plant Growth and Productivity" by G.S. Muromtsev, D.I. Chkanikov, O.N. Kulaeva, Hamburg K.Z., Moscow, 1987.
Also, the experience of using such solutions can be found on the Internet or YouTube (for example, the channel "
Farm plants" - indolyl butyric acid).
Humidity and bottom heating are an essential factor when taking cuttings, since IMC works most effectively at a temperature of 22-25 0С in the root zone, provided that the ground part of the cutting has a humidity of 50-80% and a temperature of 10-15 0С.
